Anti-Oxidation Coating for Carbon-Containing Refractories
A high-temperature anti-oxidation coating developed for carbon-containing refractories such as alumina-carbon, zirconia-carbon and magnesia-carbon. It forms a dense glassy glaze on the surface to physically exclude oxygen and prevent oxidative decarburization above 600℃, avoiding structural loosening, sharp strength loss and molten steel penetration.
Three-Component Formulation
• Low-melting glass phase: Borosilicate glass (SiO₂-based) melts and spreads at intermediate temperatures to seal pores effectively.
• High-melting refractory aggregates: Alumina and silicon carbide provide high-temperature structural strength and erosion resistance.
• High-performance binder: Bonds firmly to the substrate for lasting coating adhesion.
Protection Throughout the Service Cycle
• Firing stage: Forms a dense protective layer that blocks oxygen and protects resin-derived carbon and the graphite matrix.
• Baking stage: Withstands baking at 1200℃ and prevents cracking and spalling caused by thermal shock.
• Service stage: Withstands prolonged dynamic erosion and chemical attack by molten steel above 1500℃.
Quality Control and Application
• Glaze thickness: 0.3~0.6mm, with a smooth, glossy surface free from cracks, bubbles and pinholes.
• Supports dipping, spraying, flow coating and brushing, with controlled coating thickness.
